In the US last week, President Trump signed a Healthcare Executive Order further undermining Obamacare by allowing Junk Insurance plans designed to lure healthier individuals out of Obamacare pools. Trump also laid out an immigration Deal to Congress targeting the DV Lottery program for elimination, thus making it easier to deport Green Card Holders and Visa Overstays. The Panel discussed the way forward in America, with an uncertain future.

Following Raila Odinga’s withdrawal from the upcoming Oct 26th election re-run, Kenya faces the possibility of elections being cancelled. The panel attempted to make sense of the current situation, considering possible scenarios for the immediate future. The Panel discussed why the Diaspora remain stuck in the yoke of Tribalism despite the experience of living abroad.

On Thursday Oct the 19th, a group of concerned Kenyans in DC have organized a protest event in honor of Victims of political killings, police brutality and enforced disappearances. The event dubbed ‘Mashujaa March’ starts at 11am on 16th & Newton St, and moves to the Kenyan Embassy at 2249 R St NW in DC.

One of the organizers, Mkawasi Mcharo, wass in studio to provide more detail about the protest. Mrs. Mcharo Hall has been an advocate for Diaspora Affairs and was part of KCA, an organization that was instrumental in the realization of the right to vote and Dual Citizenship in Kenya’s 2010 Constitution.
